Poor performance of GTN panel

I recently got a new PC, and after reinstalling MSFS and the TDS GTNXi, the performance of the GTN display is very bad. It's slow to respond and had a very poor framerate. The framerate of the sim is fine, I easily get 50ish FPS (without framegen). 

I have read and done the steps in the performance tips thread, so gtn_simulator has a windows defender exemption, but it did not make any difference. I tried popping out the window, but the issue is significantly worse if I do that, the GTN unit is even less responsive in that case. 

My specs are 
Graphics card: Nvidia 3090
CPU: AMD 9950x3d
Ram: 32GB ddr5

I tried a couple other aircraft such as the Black Square baron and bonanza, and they were exactly the same. 

I am on version 3.10.3.0 of the aviation trainer, 20.42.2.0 of the GTNXi PC Trainer and 1.3.1.4 of the executable

Please show us a screenshot of the Windows Defender exclusions set.
In addition, which version of MSFS are you running?

I noticed taking this screenshot that flight simulator 2024 itself was not an exclusion, I wasn't sure if this would make a difference, but I added it anyway after my last message, and it seems to be much better now! So I guess that must have been it?

Thank you for the screenshot, unfortunately the process exclusions are wrong.
You need to exclude Processes, not full paths. This is described, with screenshots, in the TDS GTNXi PDF manual.
Such as:
gtn_simulator.exe
FlightSimulator2024.exe
FlightSimulator.exe (for MSFS 2020)

In your screenshot, you are excluding the full path of gtn_simualtor.exe and not as a process.

Hello, I am back again.

I did as you suggested and it did work, but I am back to flying after a short break, with the black square caravan and the performance is quite poor again. It seems to vary. On the ground before takeoff, it was painfully laggy and slow to use the gtn, after takeoff it seemed to come back to normal again, and then a short while later in cruise the unit became painfully laggy to use again. I can confirm the process exclusions are set exactly as you are describing.

Is there anything further I can try?

I did a little experimentation, and this issue is quite hard to reproduce. Sometimes I restart the simulator, and it's absolutely fine, and then I start a flight and it goes slow again. Or I start the simulator and it's slow again. It's very tricky to see any pattern, so I'm sorry about that, no idea what the issue is.

The process exclusions are thee solution, please post screenshots of the exclusions as well as confirm the MSFS simulator version.
Are you running a HDD/SSD on the MSFS LocalState folder(note, of the name, it is not the LocalCache)?

Is your SSD a regular style SSD or M.2?

We are asking for the LocalState folder, not the MSFS 2024 install, which could be placed on a different drive. Usually the LocalState folder path is:

C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\WASM\MSFS2024\TDS-GTNXi-Gauge

(You can delete this folder with MSFS 2024 closed, so it will regenerate)
where %username% is your username

MSFS is installed on a standard SSD, and the localstate folder is on an M.2 drive (C drive). I noticed there is no TDS-GTNXi-Gauge folder inside the localstate folder for me.
